Mardi Gras Downtown Sherman

The Red River Mardi Gras & Jazz Festival will come to downtown Sherman
Red River Jazz and Mardi Gras Festival
on Feb 22.  Sherman Downtown Now has plans for a big celebration with Jazz bands, Jugglers, Magicians, the crowing of the Mardi Gras King & Queen, a dog parade, Gumbo Cook-Off and Crawfish Boil.

The 1st of it's kind in North Texas, the Red River Mardi Gras will be a celebraton of fun, fun, fun.  Blues is the foundation of jazz as well as the prime source of rhythm and blues, rock 'n' roll, and country music.  Sherman's very own Jazz museum tells the story so well and will be open during the festival. In fact, you will hear some live Jazz while you take the tour!

Jorge Reyna and Zydeco Country willbe performing live in front of the courthouse steps.  Wear your finest Mardi Gras garb and enter the Best Costume contest.  Judging will take place on the Grayson County Courthouse steps  at 4;30 pm, sponsored by THISISTEXOMA.

Here's a schedule to help you plan where and when you can see all your favorite performances:

Although there will be activities and performers which will certainly interest children (who doesn't like to see a magician?), there are no activities planned for children. Also, there will be wine, beer and festive alcoholic drinks for sale to those 21+.

Don't miss this afternoon and evening of fun and entertainment!
