wildflowers do much more than add beauty to the landscape. They help conserve water, reduce mowing costs, provide habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife, protect the soil and save money on fertilizer and pesticides. Also, as Lady Bird Johnson said, native plants "give us a sense of where we are in this great land of ours."

It is easy to see why wildflowers continue to grow more popular with each passing year and now the Fannin Soil & Water Conservation District is offering wildflower seeds for sale.

Help us make Fannin County more beautiful than ever by adding a splash of colors when you plant a mix of several varieties of wildflowers, or bathe your backyard in blue by planting the State Flower of Texas -- bluebonnets.

The seeds come in a one-pound bag. The seeding rate for wildflowers are; One acre-8-10 lbs., per one thousand square feet-1/5 to ½ lb. Seed needs to be planted on freshly disturbed soil. We  do have a wildflower planting guide that you will receive with your order.  Wildflower mix is $28.00 per bag.

In the mix are: Bachelors Button, Black-eyed Susan, Blue Flax, Butterfly Milkweed, California Poppy, Cosmos, Gay feather, Indian Blanket, Lance leaf Coreopsis, Purple Coneflower, Scarlet Sage, Missouri and Showy evening Primrose to name a few.  Bluebonnet seeds are $17.00 per bag.
